JANA & TIM KRUMAL, KEVIN & CHRISTIE OWENS, MIKE & CHARLOTTE TURNER with

LEGACY CLASSICAL ACADEMY

Picture
We are pleased to welcome Jana, Christie and Charlotte, I believe very strongly in what they doing to prepare children for a very complex future.

I’m always interested in our Christian walk, so I asked them to start with their testimony.  Let’s start with you Jana, How did you and Tim come to Christ?

My husband and I both grew up in Christian homes and came to know Christ at a young age. Our families were purposeful in helping us to grow in our faith and we feel blessed to have had that support. God called each of us to ministry early in our lives and has continued to draw us to serve the body of Christ in many ways throughout our married life together.

Christie I understand you and Keven grew up in Christian home as well...

Yes, We both grew up in Christian homes with a legacy of strong christian leaders and teachers.   Although we both bobbled in our faith a bit through our teen and young adult years, we were humbled, repented, and turned back to Him quickly.  He is a great restorer!  When we started our family 20 years ago, it was a surprising joy to continue that christian legacy through homeschooling our children through a biblical worldview.

Charlotte was your road to Christ the same as your friends here?

Growing up in a steadfast Christian home, I gave my heart to Jesus in Sunday School when I was 5 years old and was baptized in a lake at a church camping trip when I was 11. Although Mike’s hard-working, single mom occasionally taught him to practice their Catholic faith, my husband Mike was a teenager before he came to know Christ in a charismatic Christian church.

Awesome, How would you describe your current relationship with Christ?

We love the journey God has placed us on with our family. The turns in life are often difficult, but we learn to trust in God more and more through each situation, and find His purpose for us there. He reveals things to us through His Word, His people and daily situations that open our eyes more and more to His goodness and love. I love the way He continually works with us through the process of knowing and loving Him more!

Jana

We have had the privilege to go through many trials and to see our faith tested and our lives blessed as we tangibly see God’s providential hand bringing Glory to himself through our weaknesses. We have learned to trust him in the middle of chaos and uncertainty and are beginning to learn what it means to be blessed by suffering. When He calls us to ministry it is difficult! It is very apparent that the enemy does not like it! But, Christ has strengthened our faith, given us like-minded believers to carry out His call and the faith to rely on Him in and through every situation. He is alive and active and close to us and we are grateful.

Christie

Relationship is the key word in your question that is so meaningful to me. It has never been hard for me to live honestly and rightly.  But through the years, I have come to see that He demands not just right living but our thoughts and our ambitions, our heart and our desires. It is extremely comforting to know that our loving God indwells in me through the Holy Spirit and equips me for His good works.  I am completely dependent on Him.  Every day, I try to put on His armor in the hope of being used by Him; I enjoy seeing Him be glorified through the lives of others and His beautiful creation.  He is my everything.

You all clearly have what I believe to be the first and most important ingredient for leadership which is of course, a true and living relationship with Christ. Praise God for your parents, your lives and your leadership.

Now let’s talk about Legacy Classical Academy. Tell us about your school and its unique approach to education.

The Academy is made up of seasoned homeschooling families as well as those who have just begun their homeschooling journey. We meet two days a week, with the goal of developing virtue in students who are academically prepared for college, but who are ultimately prepared for a life of service to Christ whatever their future plans may be - doctors, lawyers, mothers, fathers, ministers or martyrs. We have high level academics but teach using a “Schole” approach (meaning “rest” in Greek). The students humbly realize the more they learn, the less they know; all knowledge comes from God. Classical education strives to teach students how to think, not what to think, that there is a Truth and that it is knowable. Learning to write and speak well gives these students confidence in sharing this Truth to a lost world.

“In Acts 14:1, we are told, "At Iconium Paul and Barnabas went as usual into the Jewish synagogue. There they spoke so effectively that a great number of Jews and Gentiles believed."

With a Classical approach to learning, students build a strong biblical worldview as they study  Theology, Logic, Rhetoric, Latin, Great Books, Science, Mathematics and the Arts.  These subjects are creatively woven together and build on one another.

Wow, heavy stuff!

Yes, but kids today are a good deal more capable of in-depth learning than we give them credit for and we have great Teachers and Mentors to guide them.

Equipping well-informed, well-rounded Christians capable of leading their family, Church, community and the nation, is of the upmost importance and the Classical approach we use has for many years been achieving great success in this mission.

Collectively, how long have you been involved in this type of ministry?

For the last 15 years we have seen the amazing power of educating the next generation through the Christian Classical method. Graduates have gone on to work or be trained as missionaries, pastors, counselors, various fields of medicine, engineering, business and education, to name a few! Although this is Legacy Classical Academy’s second year in the Roseville area, we are taking our years of experience in Christian Classical education and are eager to see the fruit it bears!

Thank you for introducing yourselves and the educational Ministry to which you're committed. This is just the first chapter in our lives together. We will pray for you and help your work in any way we can. God Bless you.
