SHARI BONNARD
OF CITY GATES PRAY I am very pleased to feature Shari Bonnard in this month’s update. She is an amazing woman. Shari we are honored to have partnered with you in ministry for many years now. You completed the CLI Biblical Worldview class and became a licensed minister with IAM. You’re a single mom, work in the IT profession and have a national ministry. I don’t know how you do all that, but like always how you came to Jesus is the first question I ask. So, ok, How did you come to Christ? I was raised in a Christian home and came to know Christ at the age of 8. It was after a small earthquake, as I ran to my mother in terror, mom asked if I wanted a best friend who would always be by my side even when I was afraid. I eagerly said yes, and she shared Christ with me. I accepted Him with great delight. I was baptized at the age of 11. Although Christ had been a part of my life from early memory at the age of 3, trusting Him as my savior at 8 was a big endeavor for me. Like the small child of 8, I still cling to Him today. Christian parents! Oh that every child in America could grow up in a Christian home. Tell us about your current walk with Christ. Today, I walk with Christ as my best Friend, Confidante and Advocate. He is my Sustainer, my Hope and my Encourager. He is my Love and the One who will never leave or forsake me. I love sharing with others, what I’ve received or gleaned from daily devotions and bible reading. I enjoy a rich prayer life and I love just sitting in His presence quietly. The love of Christ has carried me in my adult life through many trials and tribulations. I have learned to trust fully in Him as my deliverer. Awesome Shari, If we give God half a chance He will do twice as much for us, in us and through us. Tell us about your Ministry We are a Prayer Mobilization Ministry. Our vision is to equip, organize and mobilize communities and cites to assemble together in prayer, lifting up those that are without Christ, our churches, neighbors, families and leaders in our communities. It is our prayer that all will grasp how deep and immeasurable the impact of remaining steadfast in prayer is to a lost and hurting world and through prayer and love for others restoration would come about in our communities and cities. In addition to prayer mobilization, City Gates Pray is adding an additional service to the community in which we will host a series of workshops which will teach the parents to teach the children. This will involve working in communities with families who are not aware of the educational choices and services available to better their child’s education and academic development. In addition to prayer mobilization we host community and city wide regional prayer walks. In doing this we pray for those who are not in Christ as well as demonstrating love in action by coming alongside and ministering to those we encounter while praying. For example we met with a couple in a park who recently relocated to the Sacramento area. They were hurting and also without a church home or family. We were able to share Christ and plug them into a local church nearby in that community. How long have you been involved in this type of ministry? The ministry was “birthed” six years ago. I have been an intercessor from my early teens and have always labored in prayer on behalf of others. Prayer changes things. Thank you dear friend for sharing your work and testimony.
