rik' fryeTell us how you come to Christ? I was raised in a family who were real about their faith & relationship with Jesus. They supported missions & people in the community who did not have strong mentors in their lives. I made a commitment to Christ at a very young age, at 16 years old I was touring & recording full time in one if not the first Christian Rock Worship bands during the 70’s Jesus Movement Revival, that is when I met Dave Harrison in Pasadena 1971. You mentioned! “A very early age”, was there an event or person who tipped the scale for you? “Dave, honestly I can remember being sick one Sunday morning when I was 4 or 5 years old, so my parents stayed home with me from Pasadena First Church of the Nazarene… that never happened as we always went to church rain or shine. I decided to set up a podium in the living room & deliver a Sunday Message. I had never thought of that moment in my life until right now, maybe that is when I decided that I wanted to serve God with my life unconditionally.” What a great family. What a wonderful heritage. That was then, tell us about your walk with Christ today. I have been in full-time ministry for over 25 years as a First Responder Chaplain serving with approximately 12 nonprofits. Tell us a little more about what you do through them. I serve those individuals & families who have fallen between the cracks of the church & or social services. People of all ages become disenfranchised by a personal crises of faith, health, illness, death or suicide of a loved one, divorce or catastrophic natural disaster. Often people do not have the strength or resources to help themselves, when I am deployed by my church or any of these great organizations I make contact with the individual or victim within 24 hours & stay engaged with them until long term support or services can be provided. Fantastic Rick, oh that God would raise up others like you in every city and region in America. God bless you my friend. Thank you for your long-term friendship and fellowship in ministry. |
